As part of the Federally funded Blackspot program for 2022-23, Monash Road Newborough has been approved for the installation of road safety improvements. These improvements include:
- Installation of linemarking and signs
- Speed reduction
- Installation of three wombat crossings (zebra crossing with raised platform)
Council is currently seeking feedback regarding the concept plans as we progress through the design phase of the project. Concept plans can be viewed here.
The works are proposed to start December 2023 and be completed by March 2024, subject to contractor availability and weather conditions. The construction of the wombat crossing at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Primary School will be constructed during school holidays, however, the remaining works may be outside of school holidays.
As with any road works there may be a disruption to traffic flow and property access. However, we will try to minimise the impact, and will keep you informed as the project progresses.
