Immunisation

Children, young people and adults can receive their recommended vaccinations through the National Immunisation Program Schedule at our Community Immunisation Sessions. These vaccinations are free of charge for eligible people. Our service also provides some vaccines available for purchase.

Community Immunisation Sessions are by appointment only. Sessions are held in Moe, Morwell and Traralgon – please note venues and times may change.

Children and young people can be caught up for any missed vaccinations for free until 20 years of age.

You may contact the Immunisation Team on 1300 367 700 or immunisation@latrobe.vic.gov.au  if you are unsure which immunisations they have missed. You may also make a catch-up immunisation appointment at any of our Community Immunisation Sessions.

The flu vaccine is available at our Community Immunisation Sessions. Children aged 6 months – 4 years (under 5 years) can receive the flu vaccine for free.

Children aged 5 years and over and Adults

Adults and children aged 5 years and over can purchase the flu vaccination at our sessions. Credit card and EFTPOS accepted only, no cash payments.

Adults 65 years and over

Adults who are 65 years and older can receive the high dose flu vaccine for free.

Corporate Flu Immunisations

The Immunisation Team also provides on-site flu vaccinations for businesses. Please visit here for more information. 

Year 7 and Year 10 (or age equivalent) students can receive their recommended adolescent immunisations at school through the School Immunisation Program.Alternatively, they can receive these vaccinations at any of our Community Immunisation Sessions  or at a GP clinic. 

Year 7

• Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
• Diphtheria/Tetanus/Whooping Cough booster

Year 10

• Meningococcal ACWY

Parents will receive information from their child’s school regarding the School Immunisation Program.  Immunisation day at school may be in Term 1, Term 2 or Term 3.

Council provides the following free vaccinations for adults as per the National Immunisation Program Schedule:

• Adults 65 years and over (Influenza and Shingles)
• Parent Whooping Cough for pregnant women (Diphtheria/Tetanus/Whooping Cough and Influenza)

Vaccinations are also available for purchase at our sessions for those not eligible on the National Immunisation Program Schedule:

• Influenza
• Diphtheria/ Tetanus/ Whooping Cough
   

If you or your child have received vaccinations overseas and would like them uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), please contact the Immunisation Team via email immunisation@latrobe.vic.gov.au  The Immunisation Team can also advise of any additional vaccinations required for your child to be up to date with the Australian National Immunisation Program Schedule. 

You may make a catch-up immunisation appointment online at one of our Community Immunisation Sessions.

A current Immunisation History Statement is required when enrolling children into childcare.

Immunisation History Statements can be downloaded from your Medicare online account or you may contact the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) on 1800 653 809.

If you notice any missing vaccinations from your child’s history statement, please contact your immunisation provider (such as your local doctor or council) and advise them to update the AIR.

Your immunisation history can be obtained from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) via Medicare online or by contacting AIR on 1800 653 809. Please note the AIR only has records from 1996 onwards. 

Vaccinations given through school program may not appear on the AIR and you may need to contact Council or your local doctor for these records. If your high school vaccinations were given by Council at school, please email immunisation@latrobe.vic.gov.au for these records to be uploaded to the AIR.

Please note: Council is only required to hold immunisation records for 25 years. If you were born before 1996 or attended school more than 25 years ago, Council no longer has your immunisation records.
