Bulky Goods Retail Sustainability Assessment

Latrobe City Council Bulky Goods Retail Sustainability Assessment reviews the floor area required and the preferred locations for dedicated bulky goods centres within Latrobe City.

Background

Latrobe City Council Bulky Goods Retail Sustainability Assessment contributes to the development of policy to guide bulky goods development and the retention of escape expenditure that is leaving the Latrobe catchment area.

Bulky goods retail reflects the terminology ‘Restricted Retail Premises’ defined under the Victorian Planning Provisions as any land used to sell or hire automotive parts and accessories; camping equipment; electric light fittings; equestrian supplies; floor and window coverings; furniture, bedding, and furnishings; fabric and manchester; household appliances; household electrical goods; home entertainment goods; party supplies; swimming pools; or office equipment and supplies.

The demand for bulky goods is influenced by population growth and projections within the main retail trade area. The Report applies population growth rates drawn from the Residential and Rural Residential Land Assessment 2009.

4 May 2009 Ordinary Council Meeting

The Latrobe City Council Bulky Goods Retail Sustainability Assessment was adopted by Council at 4 May 2009 Ordinary Council Meeting, and was subsequently included in the Latrobe Planning Scheme in January 2010.
