Council empowers community through Grants Program

Media Release

Latrobe City Council celebrated successful applicants from Round One of the 2024-25 Community Grants Program and Round One and Two of the Quick Response Grants, at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 18 February 2025.

The awards ceremony was held at Kernot Hall and 84 community groups and organisations were recognised for their projects and contributions to the community. Council provided a total of $415,390 in funding for Community Grants and $39,994 for Quick Response Grants.

This funding enables organisations to make improvements in areas such as accessibility and facility renovations, supports cultural and recreational programs and assists with community events. The program also enables community, volunteer and not-for-profit organisations access to additional funds to support their projects.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman said it’s incredibly rewarding to see projects transition from the funding stage, through to delivery and completion.

“Council is proud to provide financial support to a diverse range of community led projects and initiatives that foster social inclusion, cultural enrichment, strengthen community connections and contribute to the overall wellbeing of our vibrant City,” said the Mayor.

“A lot of people in our local community groups are volunteers. The commitment and countless hours that our volunteers dedicate is part of what makes Latrobe City a great place to live. If you are interested in volunteering, you can find information about local community groups on Council’s website.”
