At its most recent Council meeting, Council resolved to release the draft Events and Visitor Economy Strategy 2024–2028 for public submissions.
The draft Events and Visitor Economy Strategy 2024–2028 outlines the collective vision for the future of Latrobe City’s events and visitor economy. The draft Strategy provides a framework to deliver the vision through targeted event attraction, to grow the visitor economy.
When implemented, the draft Strategy will be instrumental in guiding economic growth and captivating visitors, enhancing the liveability of Latrobe City for residents, and generating community pride.
The draft Strategy draws together findings from stakeholder engagement sessions held from 2023–2024 with members of the community, including event organisers, community groups and accommodation operators. It also reflects the views of these stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities for events and tourism development in Latrobe City.
Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Darren Howe, encourages the community to have their say on the draft Strategy.
“To ensure the final Strategy aligns with your expectations for the future of tourism and events in Latrobe City, we need you to review the draft Strategy and give us your feedback. Your feedback will help inform Latrobe City Council’s final Events and Visitor Economy Strategy,” said the Mayor.
“Latrobe City has over one million domestic visitors per year and it is important that we grow the economic impact these visitors have, as we transition towards renewable energy as a future-focused, sustainable City.”
