Recipients of Trust scholarships announced

The Latrobe City Trust Award presentation was held today, Monday 18 September at Latrobe City Council Headquarters.

The award presentation is an annual event which recognises the recipients of the Latrobe City Trust. Awards were presented for the MSE Williams (Youth) Support Fund, the Lorraine Bartling OAM Scholarship in Nursing and the Jean Galbraith Memorial Rotary Scholarship.

Hannah Hooimeyer is the winner of the 2023 MSE Williams Youth Support Fund. After Hannah studied Horticulture at TAFE, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Environmental and Conservation Science course at Federation University Churchill campus where she is current studying in her second year.  

This year’s winner of the Jean Galbraith Memorial Rotary Scholarship is Georgie Lambert. Georgie is enrolled at Federation University, Churchill Campus and is currently in her second year of studying a Bachelor of Environmental and Conservation Science.

The recipient of the Lorraine Bartling OAM Scholarship, presented by Lorraine Bartling, is Joseph Young.

After finishing his Psychology degree, Joseph enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing at Federation University where he completed this course with High Distinction. Joseph is currently completing full-time studies in the Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Nursing Practice at Melbourne University whilst working at The Royal Children's Hospital on the mental health ward.

Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan congratulated the recipients of the scholarships.

“The Latrobe City Trust is administered by Latrobe City Council. The Trust is proud to support Hannah, Georgie and Joseph in their professions and future pursuits,” said the Mayor.

“The Latrobe City Trust manages funds and encourages local philanthropy to support people and communities across the municipality through the distribution of grants.”
