Latrobe City Council will be conducting landslip repair work and will temporarily close a section of Jumbuk Road in Jumbuk from 1 May 2023.
Storms in June 2021 damaged a length of Jumbuk Road, reducing it to one lane, with temporary traffic lights currently controlling the site.
The road between Summerfield Track and O’Reilly’s Hill Road will be closed for at least two weeks to allow for repair work to be completed. Council began work on the site in November 2022.
Testing during construction in January 2023 found that both lanes of Jumbuk Road needed to be closed, for the duration of the works, to allow Council to properly restore the road.
Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Kellie O’Callaghan said while the works are inconvenient for the local community, once they are completed the road will be restored to its original condition.
“Council has been discussing the road changes with local residents and held a meeting with affected community members in February, proposing the detour route,” said the Mayor.
“We thank community members for their patience during this time and will provide updates about the progress of the road and when it will open.”
Council has identified a suitable detour which can be viewed on Council’s website: latrobe.vic.gov.au/Jumbuk_Road_May_2023_Detour
