Latrobe City Council offers their condolences to the family and friends of Les Hunt of Boolarra following the news of his passing on Thursday 6 April 2023.
Les was a valued member of the Latrobe City International Relations Committee and was instrumental in establishing the teacher exchange program and the sister city relationship with Taizhou in China.
He organised the first business delegation to China in 2000 and had a strong belief in the importance of international investment and economic development.
Les had a strong commitment to community that spanned over 50 years. This included his involvement in the Boolarra CFA, Boolarra Cricket Club, Boolarra Primary School Council, Mirboo North High School Council and Gippsland TAFE Council.
He was also a board member of Life Education Gippsland and Chair of Loy Yang Environmental Review Committee. In his role as a volunteer announcer on Gippsland FM, Les highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing Latrobe City.
He will be truly missed by the community and Council is thankful for his service.
