Flood Recovery and Resilience

Latrobe City Council is calling on the federal government to invest in the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Glenview Park to support flood recovery, future-proof our facilities and mitigate future flood events.  

In June 2021, Victoria faced a severe weather event that resulted in widespread flooding across Latrobe City The destruction resulted in many buildings home to user groups at the Traralgon Recreation Reserve being destroyed.  

Stage 1 of the Latrobe City Flood Recovery project includes tow key developments:  

Multi-use Sports Pavilion within the Traralgon Recreation Reserve

The pavilion will be built above flood levels with facilities primarily for sporting clubs/groups such as female friendly changerooms for players and umpires, canteen and kitchen, social room and game day office, administration rooms, media and officials boxes, boxing gym, public spectator seating and amenities

Multi-use hall at Glenview Park  

The Indoor Multi – use hall at Glenview Park will foster the relocation of community groups who do not rely on the sporting facilities remaining at the Traralgon Recreation Reserve. It will include a Roller Derby arena and Dodgeball Courts, as well as kids play area, social gathering spaces and female friendly change facilities.  

We are grateful for the state governments commitment of $4.75 million to these important works and are now calling on the federal government to match it.

  • We are calling for an investment of 4.75 million to complete stage 1 of the Latrobe City Flood Recovery project.
