Latrobe City Council is working with animal rescue organisations to tackle the issue of stray and unwanted cats.
Council has formal animal rehousing partnerships agreements with many agencies, including Forever Friends Animal Rescue Latrobe.
Mayor of Latrobe City Cr Kellie O’Callaghan said Forever Friends and other rescue organisations play a crucial role in managing the demand for animal foster care and rehoming services.
“Council works in partnership with these organisations to ensure any suitable animals are rehoused when ready and given a lifetime of care in their beautiful new homes.
“The rehoming process can be a lengthy one and we value the efforts of each organisation and their foster carers who work hard to give these animals a second chance.
“I encourage our community to consider adoption when looking to bring a pet into their families. There are many reasons why pets end up needing a new home, and every adoption helps to make a difference,” said the Mayor.
