Preventing family violence
The Latrobe City Council Plan articulates Council’s objective to provide a connected, engaged and safe community environment which is improving the well-being of all Latrobe City Citizens. Living Well Latrobe, the Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, includes a focus on the prevention of family violence and the promotion of respectful and gender equal relationships.
Latrobe City has a commitment to educating the community on the underlying causes of family violence and violence against women. Our work is informed by Change the Story the National Framework for the prevention of violence against women.

Every year Latrobe City supports the Victoria Against Violence campaign which coincides with the United Nation’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
In 2017 Latrobe City in partnership with Gippsland Women’s Health developed the Local Government Gender Analysis Toolkit. The toolkit is a guide to gender analysis of local government events, information, programs, projects and services. The toolkit was developed thanks to the support from the Victorian Government and assistance of the Municipal Association of Victoria.
