Iconic authors, deep thinkers at this year’s Sydney Writers Festival

Livestreaming at the Moe Library from Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May, features this year’s Sydney Writers Festival program that includes literary heavyweights, entertainment icons and media luminaries.

Judy Blume headlines, but the big names keep coming with appearances from Helen Garner, Richard Flanagan, Barrie Cassidy, George Miller and Magda Szubanski.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said that hosting a high-profile cultural event like the Sydney Writers Festival in Latrobe City would bring literature, current affairs and intelligent, lively debate direct to our library screens.

“The Moe Library has hosted the Live&Local broadcast for a number of years. One of the great aspects of the livestream is the opportunity for local audiences to submit questions to panellists and presenters. It’s the next best thing to being in the audience,” she said.

“There are some giants in the literary field with beloved Australian writers Helen Garner and Richard Flanagan, and of course, the iconic Judy Blume.

“But there will also be laughs with comedian Judith Lucy and movie discussions with David and Margaret. There’s something for everyone – whether you are looking for nostalgia, political discussion or humour.”

The full program is available at www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/library and bookings are essential. Library members receive discounted ticket prices. Session, day and festival passes are available to book at Eventbrite.
