Small Business Toolkit

The Small Business Toolkit is now available for download.  This toolkit contains information on a range of topics applicable to small businesses, from starting up, to actioning growth plans.  Developed by Latrobe City this resource is targeted to assist the growth of our local business sector.

Food Businesses

Latrobe City Council's Environmental Health team can provide advice and support for those wishing to set up or purchase a re-existing food business, within the municipality. Before you start construction or structural works we encourage you to contact the Environmental Health team so they can provide you information on the requirements of your food premises.

Accommodation Businesses

Latrobe City Council's Environmental Health team can provide advice and support for those wishing to set up or purchase a re-existing accommodation business, within the municipality. Health and Beauty Businesses

Victorian Small Business Commissioner

The Victorian Small Business Commissioner operates a fair business environment for small businesses in Victoria. They assist businesses to resolve disputes, conduct mediations, and provide assistance at no costs or minimal cost to businesses.

Grants and Funding

The federal and state governments have tools that can assist you to determine whether you are eligible for a grant. Please visit business.gov.au  and Business Victoria.

Tax Assistance

The ATO provides free webinars (online seminars) on a variety of topics delivered by experienced tax officers. The webinars cover thirteen different modules including introduction to tax basics, income tax deductions, home-based businesses, small business concessions, activity statement essentials, goods and services tax, budgeting and record-keeping, super obligations, contractor issues, depreciation, employer obligations, and motor vehicle deductions.
