Latrobe City LGBTQIA+

Latrobe City Council is working towards increasing understanding and improving inclusion of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual or Agender (LGBTQIA+) community. Our Community Access & Inclusion Policy formalises Council’s commitment to support all people irrespective of age, gender, ability, cultural background, religion or sexual identity.

Local initiative - Gippsland Pride Cup 

The Pride Cup initiative celebrates diversity and inclusion in sport and has been running locally since 2017 with North Gippsland Football Netball League, Traralgon Tennis Association and Gippsland Roller Derby all hosting events to educate and raise awareness and acceptance. Local sporting clubs, associations and leagues are encouraged to join the movement pridecup.org.au

Local support and networks

Gippsland Pride Initiative exists to connect, celebrate and represent LGBTQIA+ Gippslanders to tackle barriers to inclusion and create spaces of welcome and positive change. 

  • Headspace 
  • Rural Rainbows 
  • The Queers Are Here – social and community support group for LGBTQIA+ adults in Gippsland. (Search The Queers Are Here on Facebook.)
  • Youth Space 
  • QSpace – specialist family counselling services for LGBTQIA+ people of all ages, their families and communities. Local support available based in Morwell through network organisation Anglicare 
  • New Wave Rainbow Pride
