Make a splash on the eve of summer when outdoor pools at Moe and Yallourn North open to the public on Saturday, 28 November 2020.
The weather is forecast to be warm, so there will be no better place to be.
Latrobe City Council operates the much-loved pools, which will remain open until 8 March 2021 for the enjoyment of the community.
The community will have free general entry to the Yallourn North Outdoor Pool during the 2020/21 outdoor pool season. Barbecues are available at both pools.
“Time spent at outdoor pools over summer is a cherished tradition for many families and individuals in Latrobe City,” Latrobe City Council Mayor Cr Sharon Gibson said.
“Despite the COVID-19 lockdowns we have experienced this year, Council is pleased to be able to confirm our outdoor pools will be open for the community to use, and to make up for lost time they have not been able to spend with family and friends this year.”
Under the current COVID-19 restrictions, outdoor pools can open without a patron cap but a density quotient of one person per 4m2 applies.
“We have ample space at our outdoor pools and although we will need to maintain physical distancing based on the requirements, we will be able to accommodate the community,” Cr Gibson said.
“Based on past attendances, we are yet to come close to exceeding the density quotient for crowd sizes.”
The opening hours of the pools are subject to the following temperature requirements (decisions are based on forecasts issued at 6pm the day prior):
- 2pm-7pm on days forecast to be 25 degree or above
- 12pm-7pm on days forecast to be 30 degrees or above
- 10am-7pm on days forecast to be 36 degrees or above.
Both outdoor pools are closed when the temperature is forecast to be 24.9 degrees or below.
