Mayor's Message

This week we were pleased to hear the announcement from the Victorian Government that a State Electricity Commission Jobs Energy and Skills Forum will be held on 29 June.

The forum will bring together more than 200 stakeholders such as employers, TAFEs and technical schools to help shape Victoria’s renewables workforce. This includes the Victorian Energy Jobs Plan which is set to ensure available workforce meets the needs of energy transition and investment.

We welcome the opportunity to host the forum right here in Latrobe City.

As the region that is managing transition following our proud tradition of powering Victoria for over 100 years and will be home to the SEC office in Morwell it makes sense for this vital forum to be held locally.

This work closely aligns with ‘Our Transition’ plan – as it will provide new industry and jobs that our community is calling for as we manage economic change across the City.

We look forward to working alongside the Victorian Government in the delivery of the State Electricity Commission and continue to push for fast-tracked delivery for the security of Latrobe City.

Cr Kellie O’Callaghan

Mayor of Latrobe City Council
