Mayor's Message
We have a big week ahead as many local families prepare for the return of school and for some their first days in Prep and Kindergarten.
This is a wonderful time for many – filled with excitement and perhaps some nerves, from both the kids and parents, for what is to come. Council is very proud to be part of this momentous time as we welcome new children to our kindergartens and farewell the previous year’s students ready for their next learning chapters.
Council’s School Crossing Supervisors will be out from next week, so please remember to stick to 40 km/h in school zones to keep everyone safe!
The Annual Community Satisfaction Survey calls will begin soon – running from 30 January to March. If you do receive a call, please consider giving your feedback.
These surveys are anonymous and provide Council with valuable information on where we can improve our facilities and services. The feedback also tells us areas which our community are content with, providing a good indicator of where to focus our efforts.
Council is always seeking to improve the way we serve the community and this survey plays an important role in tracking community perspectives in relation to our services.
We thank you in advance for your assistance.
Cr Kellie O’Callaghan
Mayor of Latrobe City Council

Fire Danger Period in Place
The CFA declared Fire Danger Period is now in place in Latrobe City. The CFA declares the Fire Danger Period at the onset of warmer weather when fires in the open air are legally restricted. This is to help fires from starting as dry vegetation and hot weather increase the incidence of fires accidentally starting and spreading.
Head to the CFA website to find out what you can and can’t do during this period: www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can
If property owners wish to burn in open air, a written permit from the CFA will be required. Those wishing to request a permit can visit https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/ or call the CFA on 1800 668 511.
