Members sought for community safety committee

Latrobe City Council is now seeking community representatives to join the newly established Latrobe City Community Safety Committee.

Council resolved to establish the committee at the 12 April 2021 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The committee aims to build and maintain strategic partnerships to increase community safety across Latrobe City by giving stakeholders the opportunity to address issues of safety, security, health and wellbeing.

The committee will comprise up to 23 members from a range of groups and organisations, including a representative from Victoria Police, the Department of Justice and Community Safety, and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

The committee will have up to four community representatives comprising:

  • Two aged between 18-24 years
  • One Latrobe City resident not residing in Moe, Morwell, Traralgon or Churchill
  • One other community member.

Council is now seeking expressions of interest from community members to sit on the committee.

The committee will meet quarterly with meetings taking approximately two hours.

Members will be chosen via a selection process. Applications close 4 June 2021.
