Latrobe City Council presented the 2022-23 Annual Report at its November Council meeting, reflecting on the achievements over the past financial year.
The Annual Report clearly details Council’s works and accomplishments, despite a year marked by many challenges, including the confirmation of closure dates of the region’s power stations and early cessation of the native timber industry.
It touches upon the release of the Our Transition plan in April 2023, a comprehensive roadmap that supports Latrobe City’s transition towards a low emission future. Key actions include attracting investment, skilled workforce promotion, understanding future job opportunities, providing business support, and promoting the region.
Throughout the year, Council successfully upgraded four major road sites across the region as part of the 2022/23 Black Spot Program to substantially improve 47 dangerous crash sites on Victorian roads.
The endorsement of the Ageing Well Latrobe Action Plan 2022-2026 is also highlighted, as Council remains dedicated to shaping a healthy, safe, and resilient community for senior residents to enjoy a high quality of life.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Darren Howe encouraged the community to review the Annual Report.
“The Annual Report covers all aspects of Council operations and reflects on how our work connects communities across Latrobe City,” said the Mayor.
“Together we have celebrated key projects coming to life across the region and community facility upgrades, such as the refurbishment of Kernot Hall and the unveiling of the vibrant youth precinct in Moe.
“Council also launched Have Your Say Latrobe, Latrobe City Council’s online platform so community members can be kept up-to-date and provide feedback on Council projects and services. Have Your Say provides us with new ways to engage with our community including forums, online mapping tools and more.”
Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, Mayor of the Day, also reflected upon the release of the Our Transition Plan in April 2023.
“Our region continues to experience significant economic transitions this year as we shift toward a more sustainable and diverse economy,” Councillor O’Callaghan said. “We are committed to a low emission future that ensures a greater future for the next generation.
“We look forward to continuing to drive the community towards a more sustainable future, while ensuring economic prosperity across the municipality.”
