His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on 9 April 2021.
Prince Philip served his Crown, his country and the Commonwealth for nearly 80 years. During his service, his deep affection for Australia saw him visit on more than 20 occasions, bearing witness to key moments in our country's history. He was in Australia for the opening of the Royal Australian Mint in 1965, the Sydney Opera House in 1973, and Parliament House in 1988.
The Duke was also Patron or President to almost 50 Australian organisations, including The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme which has been inspiring young Australians for 65 years.
