Latrobe City Council supports Clean Up Australia Day and recognises the importance of taking care of our environment.

As our world faces environmental challenges, Australians are being encouraged to work together to take positive action.

Council encourages community members to join their local Clean Up Australia Day event.  Registrations are open for Clean Up Australia Day on 5 March 2023.

Local events have been registered across the municipality including Boolarra, Callignee, Glengarry, Moe, Morwell, Traralgon and Tyers. Council will provide support to community groups holding events, with free bins, sharps containers and gloves.

Council staff will also be do their part by picking up rubbish in Morwell in the lead up to Clean Up Australia Day.

Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan said Clean Up Australia Day is an important day that highlights the need to clean up, conserve and care for our environment.

“Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to work together and take practical action. Together we can all make a real difference,” said the Mayor.

“As all Australians know, over the past few years, we’ve seen severe bushfires, cyclones and floods, increased pressures on our biodiversity and an ever-growing volume of waste which leaks into our natural environment.

“Participating in a Clean Up Australia Day event changes the way you think about your everyday habits and shows the practical changes each of us can make.”
