Latrobe City Council is aware of recent allegations regarding inappropriate comments made by one of our councillors and their use of social media. We take these allegations very seriously and will be discussing the matter with those involved.
As elected representatives, councillors understand they are held to a high standard of conduct both in their public and private lives. Upon election to Council office, Councillors undertake an Oath to commit to behave in a professional, respectful and impartial manner at all times.
Council is committed to fostering an inclusive community by working in partnership with organisations to educate, raise awareness and acceptance. Our Community Access and Inclusion Policy formalises Council’s commitment to support all people irrespective of age, gender, ability, cultural background, religion or sexual identity.
Council’s 2021-2025 Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan clearly acknowledges our diverse community and outlines Council’s commitment to priority groups including the LGBTIQ+ community.
We are committed to ensuring that our Council provides a safe and an inclusive environment for all members of the community while supporting councillors to undertake their roles.
