All businesses that serve food and/or beverages must comply with the requirements of the Food Act 1984. Council regularly inspects food business within the municipality.
Reporting a food safety issue
Please contact Council’s Health Services team to report:
- Concerns about cleanliness of a food business or concerns with food handler hygiene practices
- Contamination of food, such as foreign objects Note: Keep the remaining food without removing the contaminant
- Suspected food poisoning Note: Report the incident as soon as possible and keep any remaining food by wrapping it in clean plastic and it storing in the fridge
Food recalls
Sometimes foods may be recalled from sale if they pose a safety risk to consumers or for reasons of product quality. For more information about food recalls visit Product Recalls Australia
