ENGIE Hazelwood is rehabilitating the former Hazelwood Mine and Power station to deliver a safe, stable, sustainable and non-polluting site that enables productive future uses.
The Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project involves final decommissioning activities, earthworks to reprofile steep slopes, reinstatement of water course to a more natural alignment and the proposed creation of a pit lake.
The project will be assessed through an Environment Effect Statement (EES). To find out more about the EES, including key topics, timeline, consultation steps and the approach to environmental assessments visit hazelwoodrehabilitation.com.au

Join Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project's Technical Conversation Session
ENGIE Hazelwood is hosting Conversation Sessions with experts preparing the technical studies for the EES.
Latrobe Valley community members and interest groups are invited to attend the first in a series of Technical Conversations Sessions being held in early August.
The first Conversation Session, on Tuesday 1 August, is being held at this early stage of the project’s EES assessments to give an overview of the proposed rehabilitation approach from the Hazelwood project team and explain how the technical studies will be undertaken.
Attendees will hear from subject experts and be able to ask questions as part of a roundtable
discussion. This session will cover water quality, waterways, ground movement, contamination
and climate considerations.
For people who cannot attend this in-person session, the Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project team will also host a webinar on Thursday 3 August.

Community Survey
Technical specialists are preparing a Socioeconomic
Impact Assessment as part of the Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project’s EES.
ENGIE Hazelwood wants to hear from Latrobe Valley community members about what is
important for the region and further understand community responses to potential changes
brought by the project. Feedback gathered will help to inform the technical study and EES.
