
Description of Event -Boolarra will hold its first ever NAIDOC week celebrations this July.
NAIDOC week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Activities include: welcome to Country & flag raising, creative workshops daily, first nations movie marathon, theatre performance & masked NAIDOC ball.
Sunday 2nd July
11am - 12noon - Flag Raising, WTC & Smoking Ceremony & Free BBQ - Railway Park Boolarra
3 - 10pm - Free First Nations Movie Marathon @ Boolarra Memorial Hall
Monday 3rd - Friday 7th
10.30 - 12noon: Free Dance Workshops & art activities - all ages
12.30 - 2.30pm: Free Shadow Puppet workshops, mask making, sea of hands & decoration making for the NAIDOC ball
Friday 7th July
7pm - Gunga na dhum Nyanjinu: The stories we hold tightly. Theatre performance by Uncle Larry Walsh & family - story, dance, song & projections. At the Boolarra Memorial Hall
Saturday 8th July
6pm - 10pm Boolarra NAIDOC Ball at the Boolarra Memorial Hall. Masquerade Ball for all ages. Including Dance & Music Performances, First Nations Music & Disco, Prizes for Best Costumes. You can BYO food & refreshments - or enjoy a hot meal provided by BCDG. Various ticket prices. All profits from the NAIDOC Ball will go to Indigenous Literacy Foundation
