Traralgon Pistol Club is having a come and try day to enable the public to find out more about the sport.
Members of the public must register beforehand and there is a $15 charge to cover the cost of ammunition.
Club members will provide a range of pistols for the public to use and each participant will receive one on one instruction from an experienced club member.
Strict safety guidelines will be in place and participants will have to fill out a Notice of Receiving Instruction which is sent on to police to register that they have used a pistol.
People who have a criminal record, intervention orders or family violence orders cannot legally participate.
Those attending can be as young as 12 years but their parent or legal guardian must be in attendance if they are under 18 years of age.
Participants will learn basic handgun safety and be able to use an air pistol on the 10m indoor range, .22 semi automatic pistol and centrefire pistol on the 25m outdoor range.
