Latrobe City Council is currently replacing its remaining non-LED street lights.
The Project will reduce energy use and allow Council to direct more funds towards new projects to benefit the local community.
The project will:
- See over 2,600 lights replaced
- Save $400,000 in yearly electricity and maintenance
- Reduce yearly electricity use by 900,000 kWh
- Reduce 900 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year
- Improve compliance with Australian Standards in terms of safety and light levels.
The new lights will:
- Have greater uniformity of light across and along the street.
- Provide better colour rendering and visibility.
- Lose less of its light output over time.
- Result in less glare.
- Provide greater reliability.
- Require less maintenance (the new lights will last for about 20 years).
Installation works have now commenced and are expected to be completed by December 2023.
