Practicing Connections in Movement - An Introduction to Klein Technique™ with Alice Heyward

Saturday 9 March | 11am | GPAC Town Hall Theatre

Klein Technique™ is a process-oriented practice of immense value to people of all proficiency levels, dancers, and non-dancers alike. It aims to teach movement from the individual perspective of internal knowing and understanding.

To improve movement and reduce and heal injuries, Klein Technique™ focuses on moving from our deepest structural and energetic tissue, the bone, and the connections at the level of the bones. We will work on the muscles of deep postural support: the psoas, the hamstrings, the pelvic floor muscles, and the external rotators. With a body-felt understanding of how these muscles bring the bones into alignment and to a place of connectedness, this technique leads to true power and efficiency of movement.

About Alice Heyward:

Alice Heyward is dancer and works as a performer, choreographer, dramaturge, teacher, writer, and editor. Her practice develops through diverse collaborations, as author, co-author, and interpreter. Through movement-thought, she explores the production of embodied poetics. Her choreographic work has been presented at Klosterruine Berlin, Hua International, Uferstudios, MPavilion, PS Artspace, Gertrude Contemporary, Next Wave Festival, Kunsthaus KuLe, Dancehouse Melbourne and Murray White Room. She works with artists Maria Hassabi, Xavier Le Roy, Scarlet Yu, Luísa Saraiva, Alexandra Pirici, Dora García, Grażyna Roguski, Simone Forti, Trisha Brown, Hana Erdman, Alicia Frankovich and Adam Linder.
