Latrobe City Council has adopted a Road Management Plan (RMP) in accordance with the Road Management Act 2004 and the Ministerial Code of Practice.
The RMP addresses Latrobe City's bridges, paths, road pavement and associated infrastructure on the municipal road network. Road infrastructure is Council's largest asset class with the 2008 replacement cost valued at $460 million.
The RMP accounts for the ‘Sustainability’ objectives in the Council strategic vision ‘Latrobe 2021’ and considers the competing demands for Council funds, the community's desired level of service and the management of risks. The RMP provides details of the level of service for maintenance works that will be undertaken on roads, bridges and paths.
In accordance to the Road Management Act, the RMP was reviewed in 2008/2009 and adopted by Council in April 2009.
In addition to the RMP a Register of Public Roads has been developed that lists all roads, with their corresponding classification, within the municipality for which the Council is the coordinating road authority. This register is constantly updated as roads are created, closed, or changed classification.
